October
Roger’s bowling moved indoors: he has a game at Littleton and one at Malvern most weeks.
At Overbury, the fencing
put up round the green at the end of the season has been successful in keeping
the rabbits out. We were again
successful in the first of the winter quizzes held on 14 October. Towards the end of the month, Roger audited
the club accounts.
On Tuesday 3, a parents’
evening at Pate’s Grammar School focussed on prospects for university
entrance. Jay’s UCAS application was
submitted in good time, but universities apparently vary enormously in the
speed of their responses, so we do not expect to know the outcome until the New
Year. However, we will be making
exploratory visits to York and Bath in November.

Clyde at
the fun ride in fluorescent boots
Jay continues to ride
regularly. Her only competition of the
month was the dressage finals at her own stables. Unfortunately, she missed the cup by the smallest of margins, and
was placed second. On Sunday 22, she
took Clyde to Guiting Power, where fun rides in the countryside are organised
by the Cotswold Farm Park. Jay enjoyed
it, though controlling a spirited pony for a solid two hours was hard work for
her.
